Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Allison Rackow, MSW, LCSW

When my clients walk in the door, I want them to feel my commitment to helping them conquer whatever battles they are currently facing.

“I encourage them to show up exactly as they are–without fear of judgment–and to know that they will have an ally in me.”

My approach is open, honest, engaging, and sprinkled with humor. I do my best work with older teens, adults, and couples that find themselves in the midst of a transition, whether figuring out how to adjust to a blended family or navigating a difficult chapter in their lives. I pull from a variety of therapeutic approaches (Cognitive Behavioral, Person-Centered, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy). Combining these skills with my life experiences allows me to empathize with all parties involved and creatively look for solutions.

I have always felt called to be a mom in more ways than just biological. That is why I am also a stepmom, foster mom, and adoptive mom. Having these different experiences and perspectives has allowed me to truly understand a variety of family dynamics. I love supporting other foster parents and adoptive parents.

My Education and Experience:

I earned a Master’s in Social Work from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. I have worked with many diverse populations in various settings, including as a Child Welfare Specialist supporting youth and their biological and foster families. I have also worked in pregnancy counseling, adoptions, and with teens in a residential setting. I also have experience with adults of all ages in the community setting as they explore options for aging parents.
