You are not defined by the bad things that have happened to you. We will help you navigate the waters of your trauma & PTSD.

There are many different things that can cause us to experience trauma and PTSD. Whether it feels like a big trauma (when you have been the victim of violence, witnessed an accident, experienced assault, lost a loved one, or lived through a life-threatening experience, etc.) or a smaller trauma (bullying, failure, neglect, or loss, etc.), the aftermath is specific to each person and come with unique challenges.

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can develop in some people who have experienced trauma. Nearly everyone will experience a variety of reactions to trauma, and the timeline is different for everyone. If your reactions are long-lasting, you may be experiencing PTSD.

Some common symptoms of PTSD are:

  • Flashbacks
  • Bad dreams
  • Insomnia
  • Agitation or irritability
  • Hyper-vigilance
  • Self-destructive behavior
  • Anger outbursts
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Social isolation
  • Emotional detachment

There are many factors that go into determining whether or not you will experience PTSD as a result of your traumatic experience. Some important steps you can take to promote recovery include seeking support through a close friend, family member, support group, or therapist, developing positive coping strategies for working through the experience, and re-processing your experience through hypnotherapy or EMDR.

Want to learn more about EMDR and Hypnotherapy?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a way to uncover and dismantle the negative thoughts and beliefs associated with trauma such that, over time, the trauma will be restored in a more healthy and adaptive way. This process targets the neurological ways you react to chronic stress and trauma and consequently, healing occurs on a very fundamental level.

Hypnotherapy is a technique that a trained therapist will use to create a relaxed state of consciousness to guide you through inner experiences of trauma. Going through this process with a trained therapist keeps the trauma from becoming too big or too scary. You will maintain a level of consciousness during each session, but can hold the trauma with a light hand and maintain distance from troubling emotions around it.
