Depression is a serious problem in the United States. In fact, major depressive disorder is the leading cause of disability for persons ages 15 through 45 and affects more than 16 million people per year.
At Life Insight, we know how disabling depression can be, and we want to help. If you or a loved one is suffering from depression, our Downers Grove depression treatment therapy can be a tool that helps you regain the quality of life that you want. Please call our professionals today to learn more about how we can help.
The first step in getting help for depression is recognizing that you are suffering from a mental illness that is common and treatable, and that you have the power to take control of your life. While depression has been stigmatized in the past, we know that depression can affect anyone, and is more common than most people realize – you are not alone. If you or a loved one is suffering from any of the following symptoms, there is help available:
Most people will suffer from a depressive episode for at least two weeks. While mood swings or having down days are normal, if feelings persist for multiple days, weeks, or months at a time, it’s time to get help.
We also offer treatment for those suffering from conditions often related to or confused with depression, such as anxiety and bipolar disorder.
Our goal is to provide psychotherapy services that are effective and empowering for you. Our psychotherapy services include:
We also offer couples therapy, family therapy, and group therapy, all therapy types that may be helpful depending on your situation. The intent of therapy is to identify negative thinking patterns, teach coping strategies, help you to identify the things that you find value in, explain how relationships contribute to depressive disorder, and look at your behaviors and thoughts that are rooted in past experiences. We know that addressing these issues can be painful and challenging – we are here to guide you through the experience in a space that is safe and a manner that you feel comfortable with.
Working through depression can be challenging, and isn’t something that you should expect to happen overnight. At Life Insight, we understand what you’re going through and want to offer you the support you need. Therapy may be a huge part of the solution, and can be used in combination with other treatment strategies, too, for more effective results.

What a week for our world. As everyone tries to adapt to a new sense of normal amidst an ever-changing landscape, we've all been asked to do things differently. And humans do not like change! We crave the familiar, the predictable, the known. One of the ways we are encouraging our community to stay healthy during this time is to keep as much routine and consistency as possible, including self-care and support.
We understand the anxiety and worries that are in the world right now, we also understand the importance of connection and care and healing. We are moving all of our appointments to Telehealth sessions as of Monday, March 23rd. While this may be a different way of doing things for some of you, it allows us to be a consistent source of support for our community.
Our practice has been using telehealth for over two years, and we have a HIPAA compliant platform in place that is really quite simple to use for our sessions. All of our therapists are able to walk you through getting used to your first telehealth session and not much will be different other than you'll show up online instead of at the offices.
In fact, we're still taking new clients during this time, so if you are feeling like you'd like to talk to someone or know of someone in need of extra support right now, let them know that we are here to help. You can call or text our offices at: 630-563-0044 or sign up online via the "Book Appointment Online" button on our website.
