What Is Generalized Anxiety Disorder?

Generalized Anxiety Disorder, often referred to as GAD, is a condition characterized by persistent and excessive worry about a number of things. For example, a person who is suffering from GAD may be overly-worried about their relationship, money, or any other common issues that people deal with on a daily basis. Sometimes, the anxiety is so severe that a person will experience anxiety surrounding an issue that feels unbearable. The anxiety could lead to irrational decisions or emotions, physical consequences (headache or digestive issues), mood swings, avoidance, sleeping problems, and more. A person suffering from GAD may also experience panic attacks and could develop depression as a result of the consequences of other side effects of their anxiety disorder. 

In addition to generalized anxiety disorder, there are also a number of specific anxiety disorders, such as social phobia or panic disorder. At Life Insight, we offer anxiety treatment therapy for people suffering from all types of anxiety, as well as varying degrees of anxiety.

What a week for our world. As everyone tries to adapt to a new sense of normal amidst an ever-changing landscape, we've all been asked to do things differently. And humans do not like change! While this may be a different way of doing things for some of you, it allows us to be a consistent source of support for our community.

Our practice has been using telehealth for over two years, and we have a HIPAA compliant platform in place that is really quite simple to use for our sessions. All of our therapists are able to walk you through getting used to your first telehealth session and not much will be different other than you'll show up online instead of at the offices.
