Ashley McCallion, Masters Level Clinical Intern

I find working with children especially meaningful and love watching them learn, grow, build self-esteem, and reach their full potential. I enjoy incorporating creative and engaging approaches to help children process emotions, develop self-understanding, and navigate challenges. I practice from a person-centered perspective, believing that empathy, warmth, and positive regard are essential to the therapeutic process. I also utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) when working with OCD and anxiety-related disorders. These evidence-based approaches help clients break the cycle of anxiety, face their fears, build tolerance to uncertainty, and regain a sense of control in their lives.

My Education and Experience:

I am currently a master’s student at Lewis University, completing my degree in clinical mental health counseling in the child and adolescent track. Over the past six years, I have worked with a diverse population including adults, with a focus on children and teens. My experience includes work in PHP and IOP programs, where I specialized in treating OCD and anxiety. My work primarily involved children and adolescents dealing with OCD, anxiety, and related issues such as school refusal, emetophobia, specific phobias, generalized anxiety, autism spectrum disorder, and depression.

When I’m not working, you can find me outside during the summer whenever the weather is nice, trying new restaurants, and spending time with close friends and family.
