As a therapist, I create a safe space for children and adolescents, while offering a trusted line of communication to parents and families. My intention is to help my clients pave a pathway toward inner hope, healing, and self-discovery.
I help preteens and adolescents build distress tolerance and acceptance skills to better cope with daily stressors outside of their control, while learning to navigate interpersonal relationships and peer-related conflict. My therapeutic approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavior Therapy, as well as Dialectical Behavior Therapy. I also incorporate elements of Motivational Interviewing, which means I’ll meet you where you’re at, without judgment of where you are or how you got there. Our work begins in a place of mindful acceptance, gradually progressing toward growth and change.
As both a therapist and human being, I consider myself to be authentic, easy-going, and creative. I greatly value different forms of self-expression and utilize a variety of tools, incorporating writing, art, and music when appropriate. I have a great passion for treating issues related to self-esteem, self-development, anxiety and mood disorders, self-harm, and substance use disorders.
I earned my Master’s in Social Work through the Jane Addams College of Social Work at the University of Illinois at Chicago, with an emphasis in mental health. I have experience as a pediatric and adolescent therapist in an inpatient hospitalization setting and am also a Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor. Working in the field of addictions, I understand that substance use disorders extend beyond the individual and affect those around them, as well. I welcome both individuals in recovery and loved ones struggling to cope to seek out support.
