Nutrition Counseling

Nutrition Counseling

A well-rounded diet is an essential part of maintaining good health. However, many people struggle to get all the nutrients they need each day. From food allergies to eating disorders, there are many roadblocks you may face in your journey to a healthier lifestyle.

If you’re struggling to make healthy food choices, visit a nutrition counselor at Life Insight. We believe in holistic health, and that improving your relationship with food, nutrition, and your body is essential for physical and mental wellness.

What Can I Expect from Nutrition Counseling?

Nutrition counseling is a type of therapy used to help individuals improve their health through dietary choices. It’s an opportunity to discuss your eating habits and health-related goals in a nonjudgmental environment. A Registered Dietitian will work closely with you to create an individualized plan to help you achieve your goals.

First Session

At your initial assessment, we will gather all information related to your food & body experience up to that point. We may work with your primary care provider to get a wider view of your health if necessary. We will then create an individualized plan based on that information.

Second Session

We will explain our treatment plan and customize it based on your day-to-day needs. We will share our assessment of where a nutrition risk may be and set up first steps on the path of healing. We may introduce a meal plan if necessary.

Ongoing Care

After that are routine follow up sessions, where we will work with you to integrate a positive relationship with food & your body into your everyday life.

Who Needs Nutrition Counseling?

A healthy relationship with food is important to our wellbeing and making healthy choices is a priority for many people. However, due to various mental and physical health conditions limiting or complicating their dietary choices, it can be hard to achieve daily nutrition requirements. Nutrition counseling is a powerful solution for those who need help with:

  • Eating disorders
  • Chronic health conditions such as Types 1 & 2 diabetes, cardiovascular issues, GI issues, or food allergies.
  • Weight changes
  • Co-occurring disorders such as depression, anxiety, trauma, or substance abuse
  • General health concerns

Ultimately, there is no right or wrong reason to seek nutrition counseling. If you believe dietary guidance would be beneficial to your health, booking an appointment with a Registered Dietitian is an excellent first step.
