Experiencing a major loss can be a devastating experience. Whether talking about the divorce of parents for a child, the death of a loved one, losing one’s job, the ending of a relationship, or a significant accident that leaves a person with severe injuries, feelings of emptiness and grief are common. Often, feelings of grief also include or lead to feelings of isolation, depression, anger, and hopelessness. At Life Insight, our Hinsdale grief counseling services can help you to learn how to cope with your grief, confront the emotions that you are experiencing, and construct a healthier framework for your life moving forward. Please reach out to our Hinsdale grief counselors today to learn more about how we can help.

Coping with Grief – How Our Hinsdale Grief Counseling Services Can Help

Coping with grief on your own after the death of a loved one or another traumatic life effect can feel overwhelming, and you may feel completely lost and without any control over your own feelings, emotions, and life. Our therapists are here to guide you through the grief process and navigate the four primary tasks of bereavement:

  1. Accept the reality of your loss.
  2. Work through the pain that you are experiencing related to your loss.
  3. Adjust to life as is post-loss.
  4. Maintain a connection and awareness of thing or person you lost while also moving forward in your own life in a way that is healthy.

Our therapists help you to achieve the above by:

  • Helping you to identify the specific feelings that you are thinking;
  • Identifying thinking patterns and behaviors that are preventing you from moving forward;
  • Helping you to understand how you can adapt to a new role in your life;
  • Guiding you through the process of forming a new routine and managing that change;
  • Helping you to develop healthy ways of connecting with friends, family, and yourself; and
  • Helping you to understand who you are and your new sense of identity after the event that leads to grief.

Traumatic events and grief can affect persons of all ages, ranging from young children to the oldest of adults. We work with:

  • Children;
  • Teens and pre-teens;

What Our Past Clients Have To Say

We Are Open For Business

What a week for our world. As everyone tries to adapt to a new sense of normal amidst an ever-changing landscape, we've all been asked to do things differently. And humans do not like change! We crave the familiar, the predictable, the known. One of the ways we are encouraging our community to stay healthy during this time is to keep as much routine and consistency as possible, including self-care and support.

We understand the anxiety and worries that are in the world right now, we also understand the importance of connection and care and healing. We are moving all of our appointments to Telehealth sessions as of Monday, March 23rd. While this may be a different way of doing things for some of you, it allows us to be a consistent source of support for our community.

Our practice has been using telehealth for over two years, and we have a HIPAA compliant platform in place that is really quite simple to use for our sessions. All of our therapists are able to walk you through getting used to your first telehealth session and not much will be different other than you'll show up online instead of at the offices.

In fact, we're still taking new clients during this time, so if you are feeling like you'd like to talk to someone or know of someone in need of extra support right now, let them know that we are here to help. You can call or text our offices at: 630-563-0044 or sign up online via the "Book Appointment Online" button on our website.
